What kind of questions about society are posed by theatres of the world and how? In theatre, we can experience lives of artists who came from different history, politics, economy, education, society and culture, and by observing them, we could seek a possibility that their lives are in the extension of ours. In this project, we focus on a different country or city each time, and tie up with its theatres and festivals who present experimental, innovative and international works and artists. By co-curating with such progressive places, Yokohama can network with various other cities, and new scenes will be developed for the audience and artists in Japan.
What kind of questions are theatres around the world posing to the theatre-goers right now? Our objective is not only to let the audience experience the productions by artists who live and work in different environments and to know what is happening “now” in the world, but also to feel and explore the possibility that their world might be indeed connected in some way to those of the artists. We focus on a different country or city each time, co-curating productions with theatres or festivals around the world that are producing experimental and innovative artists.
